Mission
Our CTSI programs reflect the resolve of Wake Forest Baptist to become a leading “learning health care system”:
- At the forefront of translating scientific discoveries to impact patient care
- Transforming to generate and apply the best evidence for the collaborative health care choices of patients and providers
- Driving the process of discovery as a natural outgrowth of patient care
- Ensuring innovation, quality, safety and value in health care
We embrace the National Academy of Medicine (formerly the Institute of Medicine) definition of a learning health care system as one that delivers continuous, real-time improvement in care effectiveness and efficiency by aligning science and informatics, patient-clinician partnerships, incentives and culture. Our integrated organizational structure positions us well for the exciting work ahead responding to CTSA opportunities.
What is the CTSA?
The Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program comprises an innovative national network of medical research institutions (hubs) that work together to improve the translational research process. The hubs collaborate locally, regionally and nationally, catalyzing innovation in human subjects research, patient involvement, new translational methodologies and training.
