Community Tour
Every day, over 2000 members of our community come to Wake Forest Baptist Health as patients or participants in our research. How much do you know about these people? Are you familiar with the neighborhoods in which they live? Do you know the obstacles they encounter in getting to our medical center? If you are a clinician, what happens to your carefully crafted treatment plan once they leave the hospital? If you are a researcher, would deeper knowledge about the surrounding community help you engage a broader range of people in your research projects?
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s “Community Tour” is designed to help faculty, staff, and administrators gain an expanded understanding of:
- Some of the barriers to effective health care delivery
- Barriers to community members’ participation in research studies
- A cultural understanding of the patient population
- The environment in which patients live and its impact on their health
