NIH Notices for Faculty: Updates from the Office of Sponsored Programs

Faculty are advised of several important NIH policy updates from the Office of Sponsored Programs. All NIH applications must now be submitted complete and compliant with agency policies and instructions. Recent changes include the elimination of requirements for Letters of Intent and for unsolicited applications requesting $500,000 or more in direct costs, aimed at reducing administrative burden. Beginning January 25, 2026, NIH will require the use of new standardized forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support. Additionally, Research Security Training is now mandatory for NIH submissions and is available via Workday under Research Security.
