At the 2025 Fall CTSA Program Annual Meeting, held from October 22 to October 24, the Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) earned top recognition in a highly competitive Poster Presentation Session. The session’s theme, “Innovative Hub Projects Advancing Clinical and Translational Science,” attracted submissions from CTSA hubs nationwide, with each hub allowed to present only one poster in their selected category. Wake Forest CTSI’s entry, representing the “Strategic Management, Pilot Programs, and/or Element E Programs” category, stood out among eight other exceptional posters competing in this category.
The winning poster, Leveraging a CTSA Pilot Model to Launch an Institutional Pilot Program, showcased the collaborative efforts between the CTSI, the Dean’s Office, and the Institutional Research Centers at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. By adopting and enhancing the proven CTSI Pilot framework, the team established a centralized pilot program that simplifies administrative processes, boosts co-funding opportunities, and streamlines return-on-investment tracking. The initiative’s impact on research infrastructure and funding pathways was a key factor in its selection as the best poster in its category.
Authors Brittney Patterson, BBA (First Author), Jamy Ard, MD, Lynne Wagenknecht, DrPH, Lindsay Trost, MHA were recognized for their leadership and innovation. Their work not only advances translational science at Wake Forest but also serves as a model for other institutions seeking to optimize pilot funding and foster collaborative research environments. Winning this poster competition underscores Wake Forest CTSI’s dedication to driving impactful change and highlights the team’s commitment to excellence in clinical and translational research.
