The Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Lunch and Learn Series will offer virtual workshops led by the BERD team experts. See the Spring series listed below, and click on the events to learn more info about speakers, WebEx options, and to download fliers! 


Jan 19th: Statistical Power: Understanding the Inputs and How You Come Up With Them

This session will cover approaches to estimate statistical power, sample size, and effect estimates to be considered in the study design phase.

Feb 2nd: Interaction and Effect Modification: What are They and How Are They Different

This advanced level session will introduce, describe, and distinguish causal interaction and effect measure modification

Feb 16th: Biostatistics: Analysis of a Continuous Outcome

This introductory level session will present the basic statistical concepts and approaches for analyzing outcome data in continuous form.

Mar 2nd: Biostatistics: Analysis of Repeated Measures Outcomes

This session will present approaches for analyzing repeated measures outcome data.

Mar 16th: Presenting Your Results

This session will provide guidance on the basic “Dos and Don’ts” of presenting your results that can be used in manuscript/grant writing and poster/oral presentations.

Apr 6th: Study Design: Screening Methodology and Statistics

This session will cover fundamentals of screening methodology and common statistical measures used in screening for disease prevention (e.g., Sens, Spec, NPV, and PPV)

Apr 20th: Introduction to R Programming

This session will be an overview on techniques that the statistical software package R is well positioned to accomplish relative to other statistical programs. We will focus this introductory session on five relevant techniques/topics within R.
