This two-day, hands-on skills development course is designed for research study staff who need to draw blood from research study participants. Day 1 will cover history of phlebotomy, legal issues, OSAH, HOPPA, venipuncture equipment, venipuncture procedures, locating the vein, and drawing blood. Day 2 will cover different types of patients, overcoming difficult blood draws, physiological factors affecting blood drawing, and more opportunities for practice of phlebotomy skills. Participants must attend entire two-day program to receive certificate of completion.
