Wake Forest University School of Medicine Neurologist Leads National AHA Report on the Future of Stroke Care

We are proud to recognize Amy K. Guzik, MD, FAHA, FAAN, Associate Professor of Neurology and Division Chief of Vascular Neurology, for serving as Chair of a new American Heart Association (AHA) report on virtual stroke networks. The publication appears in Stroke and will be highlighted at the International Stroke Conference in February 2026.

Developed by a team of national experts, the report examines how emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, mobile imaging tools, and telehealth are transforming the triage and treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It outlines how virtual stroke networks can improve coordination, accelerate diagnosis, and expand access to specialized stroke care across diverse clinical settings.

Dr. Guzik shared:

In addition to leading this national effort, Dr. Guzik serves as Vice Chair of System Operations, Medical Director of Stroke & Telestroke Services, and Program Director of the Vascular Neurology Fellowship, where she continues to drive innovations in stroke care across the Wake Forest Market.
