K01 Mentored Research Scientist Development Award

  • Career development in a new area of research

K22 Mentored-Patient Oriented Research Career Development Award

K25 Mentored Quantitative Research Career Development Award 

  • To foster interdisciplinary collaboration in biomedical research by supporting career development experiences for scientists with quantitative and engineering backgrounds 
  • Candidates must have an advanced degree in a quantitative area of science or engineering 
  • Basic Science emphasis 
  • 3-5 yrs / at least 75% effort

K99 /R00 Pathway to Independence Award

  • To facilitate a timely transition from a mentored postdoctoral research position to a stable independent research position, with independent NIH or other independent research support at an earlier stage than is currently the norm 
  • K99: Up to 2 years of support for new investigators with less than 5 years of postdoctoral research training experience at initial application or subsequent resubmission(s), who are not yet full-time tenure track assistant professors (or equivalent) 
  • R00: Up to 3 years of support to conduct research as an independent scientist at an extramural sponsoring institution/organization to which the individual has been recruited, been offered and has accepted a tenure-track full-time assistant professor position (or equivalent) 
  • Support for the independent phase contingent on being accepted by an appropriate extramural institution and the successful NIH programmatic review of the K99 phase. 
  • At least 75% effort required in both phases 
  • Mentorship required only in K99 phase

K07 Academic Career Award 

  • Developmental/Leadership in academic instruction, research, administration 
  • Candidates must have a clinical or research doctoral degree 
  • Either Clinical or Basic Science emphasis

K23 Mid-Career Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award

  • Development of the independent research scientist in the clinical arena

  • Development of clinical mentors conducting funded research

K26 Mid-Career Investigator Award In Mouse Pathobiology Research

  • Provides support for established pathobiologists who wish to do research and mentoring in the field of mouse pathobiology
