Research Administration

All members of the research community, including faculty, research staff, students, adjunct faculty, and visiting researchers, are expected to adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards as they pursue research activities.

The Animal Welfare Program provides oversight and ensures the appropriate care, use, and humane treatment of animals used for research, testing, and teaching and provides guidance in planning and conducting all animal activities with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles.

The Human Subjects Protection program ensures that participants are informed of all known risks posed by a research study and that these studies are conducted in accordance with the ethical standards put forward by the Belmont Report.

Other regulatory activities by the Office of Sponsored Programs include oversight of extramurally funded research programs to ensure that sponsored activities are being conducted consistent with all regulations, policies, and laws set forth by sponsors and the institution.

News from OSP: New Budget Tool

We are pleased to announce a new spreadsheet available to help streamline the budget process when a new award or new funding is received!  As noted in the November RA session, the Budget Tool is intended to:

  • increase accuracy (for us and you, as the people we ask to review chartfield setups)
  • reduce future slowdowns (missing combo codes, rebudgeting requests, etc)
  • make the process between “the award is here” and “we can spend” more efficient.

Although it’s already available online, we’re offering hands-on experience for those who would like to walk through the sheet with experts standing by for assistance. Currently, two sessions are scheduled:

Carpenter Library, Classrooms A & B
10-11am Wednesday, November 29, 2017
10-11am Monday, January 8, 2018

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED:  Please contact postaward@wakehealth.edu, indicating which session you would like to attend.  Each session will be filled in the order in which we receive responses. If we run out of room, additional sessions will be scheduled.  Please bring a budget example or two with you.

We will be advertising the Budget Tool in various venues so you should see this message again.  Please forward to others within your department as needed.

The Budget Tool is on our website
