Did you know that each REDCap project collects an audit trail of project activity that can easily be accessed by project team members? The Logging module lists all changes made in a project, including data exports, data changes, and the creation or deletion of users. Project team members with the appropriate user rights can access this module to run reports on project activity.
How do I use the Logging module?
Within your project, look at the left navigation bar under the Applications section header. If you have the appropriate user rights you will see a link that says, “Logging.” Clicking on this will take you directly to the Logging module.
The module will display a list of all project activity, including the date and time, username, action, and a list of changes or fields exported. You can use the filters to narrow down your search to filter by event (e.g., manage/design, record created, record updated, etc.), username, record, and date range. For example, if you would like to see project activity for a particular record, you can use the “Filter by record” field to select the record ID you are interested in. Or, if you would like to see a report of changes made to project records, you can use the “Filter by event” field and select the option, “Record updated (only)” to see a list of record changes by time and username.
A copy of the entire logging record can also be exported to Excel.
