eIRB COVID Screening Update

Update: New Information on the eIRB Homepage from Joseph Andrews, PhD, Assistant Dean for Regulatory Affairs and Research Integrity

February 15, 2021

In January Infection Prevention and Patient Experience updated the WFBH screening questions used for patients, visitors, and research participants.  When scheduling a research appointment, conducting pre-visit phone screening, or when conducting in-person visits, please use the following three questions.  The new information is underlined and in red.

  1. Have you had a fever, cough or shortness of breath in the last 7 days?
  2. Have you had vomiting AND/OR diarrhea in the last 7 days?
  3. Have you had contact with someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last two weeks, or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last three weeks?

If the participant responds negatively to all questions and has a temperature of 99.9F or below, they may proceed with the scheduled visit. If they report an acute issue, refer them to their primary care physician and/or to one of our respiratory assessment clinics. They can call 336-713-7775 and they will receive a phone visit to help determine if they need to be seen or evaluated for COVID-19.  If they report a recent contact or diagnosis, please reschedule their appointment and advise them to follow current guidelines for individuals with recent contact or diagnosis of COVID-19.
